As one of the UX/UI lead for Covisint Identity Services Management, I transformed our outdated identity system into a modern, user-friendly platform. The redesign boosted user retention by 30%, improved task completion by 60%, and introduced a much-needed general user interface – all while reducing operational costs.

The Challange

While functional, the original CIS platform had become a significant pain point for users and administrators. The system's dated Windows 95-era interface, desktop-only accessibility, and complex management requirements led to high operational costs and user frustration. Organizations using the platform faced challenges with multiple ID management, complex system integration, and time-consuming administrative tasks, creating a clear need for modernization.

Research and Discovery

We identified critical gaps in the existing system through stakeholder interviews and user research, particularly its lack of a general user interface. User testing revealed pain points in navigation, administration, and daily tasks. Discovery workshops with stakeholders helped define essential features for both administrative and general user experiences, leading to a clear understanding of necessary improvements in workflow automation and security management.

Solution

The redesigned platform introduced a dual-interface approach with distinct administrator and general user views. Key features included automated workflow management, streamlined application provisioning, and an intuitive organization hierarchy system. The design system provided customizable themes and code snippets to support partner branding requirements.
